West Brom open talks with Huszti after Rodriguez snub
West Brom are in talks over a move for Zenit St Petersburg winger Szabolcs Huszti.
Manager Roy Hodgson has made his move
after former target Cristian Rodriguez of Porto opted to discuss a
possible move to Lazio instead.
Talks: Szabolcs Huszti of Zenit St Petersburg
Huszti has also been attracting interest from Blackburn but the biggest threat comes from Monaco who despite struggling at the foot of the French second division are putting together an ambitious new project with their Russian owners.
Zenit are willing to allow Huzsti out on loan and the 28-year-old Hungary international is expected to talk over a move with Albion before making up his mind.
Hodgson is also keen to bring in a striker and after watching Rangers' Nikica Jelavic and St Johnstone's Francisco Sandaza has also enquired about Stuttgart striker Pavel Pogrebnyak.
The Russia international has fallen down the pecking order at the struggling Bundesliga club and they are understood to be happy to sell following the purchase of Bosnia international Vedad Ibisevic from Hoffenheim.
Hodgson remains keen on a defender too with Birmingham's Liam Ridgewell and Fulham's Chris Baird in his thinking.
