Wigan are looking to sign Manchester United striker Mame Biram Diouf on loan.

Manager Roberto Martinez is wary of losing Hugo Rodallega, with the Colombian out of contract in the summer.

Senegal forward Diouf has been limited to three League Cup
appearances and has had temporary spells with Molde and Blackburn. He is
hoping to emulate Danny Welbeck, who shone while at Sunderland last
season and has since established himself in the United first team.

‘Wigan is an option and a good one. I want to go and play week in, week
out and try to impress Sir Alex,’ said Diouf, 24.

‘If I can finish the
season strongly I can challenge next season like Danny has done. Wigan
could be key for me.’
