Forget Spurs! Walcott tells Arsenal team-mates not to worry about fierce rivals
Theo Walcott has told his Arsenal team-mates to forget about overhauling Tottenham and focus on their own season.
The Gunners are facing up to the prospect of finishing below their north London rivals in the league table for the first time since 1995.
On the chase: Arsenal are five points adrift of Tottenham
Arsene Wenger”s side are five points adrift of Spurs heading into their final game of 2011 having played one game more.
But speaking ahead of Saturday”s home clash with Queens Park Rangers, Walcott insists Arsenal cannot become obsessed with chasing Spurs.
Leading the race: But Spurs haven”t finished above Arsenal since 1995
“We don”t have to worry about anyone else, we have to concentrate on each game,” the England international told Arsenal Player.
“Maybe we are thinking too far ahead, or thinking too much about Tottenham potentially finishing above us.
“Hopefully we can make sure that doesn”t happen, but we have to take things on a game-by-game basis.
“I think that can be a problem, we cannot worry about wanting teams to drop points when we should just be concentrating on ourselves.”
