Arsenal have confirmed Jack Wilshere is expected to return from an ankle in injury for their clash with Reading at the end of the month.

The England midfielder has not played since Arsenal's 2-1 defeat to Tottenham and has already been ruled out of his country's crucial World Cup qualifiers against San Marino and Montenegro.

It was claimed by some outlets that Wilshere could be missing for a further six weeks and that manager Arsene Wenger had ruled out the possibility of using him again this season.

The club was quick to deny any such setback for the 21-year-old as he continues his rehabilitation in London.

'Nothing has changed in Jack's recovery, there’s no setback or further damage to his ankle and no concern about any long-term problems,' said an Arsenal spokesperson.

'Jack was told to rest and we are still on course for him to resume training and be available for selection for the home game against Reading.'

The news will come as a relief for Gunners fans who are well acquainted with the fitness issues that have plagued Wilshere for the past two years.

What should have been a routine operation on his right ankle in 2011 forced him to miss 17 months of action after suffering various setbacks on his road to recovery.

Arsenal's win at Swansea on Saturday has thrown Wenger's side back into the mix of teams challenging for fourth place and entry into the Champions League next season.

The Gunners currently lie four points behind North London rivals Spurs with a game in hand.

If Wilshere progresses as Arsenal expect then he will be available for the run-in as Arsenal look to salvage their season following another campaign without a trophy.

Didier Drogba has signed an 18-month contract at Galatasaray, according to reports in Turkey.

The former Chelsea striker is currently on Africa Cup of Nations duty with Ivory Coast but Eurosport and official Turkish League broadcaster LigTV are reporting that Drogba has found the time to agree a move to Turkey from Shanghai Shenhua.

He is expected to complete a 5million move to the Turkish side and will receive a signing on bonus of 3m.

Drogba will also reportedly receive a bonus of 21,000 for each game he plays, up to a maximum of 425,000 a year, meaning he could earn 9.6m over the 18 months.

Eurosport Turkey reports that the 'agreement is not official yet but sources say it will be done in the next week.'

A spokesperson for the Sports PR Company said: 'They have made a formal bid for him.'

The 34-year-old has found it hard to
settle in China and with Shenhua's financial problems worsening they
have already offloaded Drogba's former Chelsea team-mate Nicolas Anelka
to Juventus this week.

AC Milan had been linked with a move

their recent 8.6million signing Wesley Sneijder.

Last month Drogba returned to train with his old club during the Chinese off-season in preparation for the African Nations Cup, in which he is currently competing in South Africa.

FIFA rejected a special request from the striker for him to join a club on loan outside the transfer window, amid speculation linking him with Juventus, AC Milan and Liverpool, among others.

Paul Gascoigne looks unlikely to attend Thursday's Europa League clash between two of his former clubs, Lazio and Tottenham.

Gascoigne became a cult hero at Spurs after four successful years at White Hart Lane and he then went on to achieve similar status at Lazio after moving to the Italian capital in 1992.

The affection with which he is remembered by the Italian club prompted the club's general manager Maurizio Manzini to immediately invite the 45-year-old to this Thursday's encounter between the two sides when they were drawn together in Group J in August.

But Gascoigne looks set to miss the game as he has already been booked to speak at an event at the Concorde Club in Eastleigh, Southampton, the day after the match.

Wiggins awarded third place in 2009 Tour de France after Armstrong's results struck off

18:50 GMT, 29 October 2012

Bradley Wiggins has been awarded third place in the 2009 Tour de France after Lance Armstrong's result was wiped from the record books.

Wiggins, who won the 2012 Tour, placed a then British record-equalling fourth three years' ago behind Alberto Contador, Andy Schleck and Armstrong.

After the International Cycling Union stripped Armstrong of all results from August 1, 1998, ratifying a ruling by the United States Anti-doping Agency, Wiggins is a two-time Tour podium rider.

The UCI ruled last week Armstrong's sequence of seven successive Tour wins would not be reallocated and results following any future disqualifications relating to 1998 to 2005 would not be reallocated, but those from his comeback years, in 2009 and 2010, will.

A UCI spokesperson said: 'In 2009 the placing of Mr Armstrong will be reallocated.

Less than a year after winning double
Olympic gold over four kilometres on the Beijing 2008 Games track, in
the individual and team pursuits, Wiggins produced a coming of age
performance on the road in the Tour.

For the first time, Wiggins focused on the fabled race, equalling Robert Millar's 1984 British best placing of fourth.

It was that performance and result which earned Wiggins a move to Team Sky and convinced him he could win the Tour, a dream realised in July, when he became the first British winner of the yellow jersey.

Chris Froome finished second, becoming the second Briton to claim a place on the Tour podium.

The Armstrong affair was the subject of much discussion last week in Paris at the launch of the route of the 2013 Tour, the 100th edition of the fabled race.

There Wiggins suggested he would target the Giro d'Italia next May and ride the Tour, which begins in Corsica on June 29 and finishes in Paris on July 21, in support of Froome as Team Sky seek to defend the title.

Almost exactly two years ago Sno collapsed during an Ajax reserve match and had to be revived by an external defibulator.

Sno has started all seven games this season for NEC after joining them from Second Division RKC Waalwijk during the summer.

Celtic, meanwhile, have pledged their support to their former player Sno.

The midfielder was thankful for an internal defibrillator fitted after he suffered a previous cardiac arrest during a game for Ajax reserves two years ago.

Sno spent the night in hospital after the effects of the defibrillator led to an abnormal heartbeat, but the fact that the device revived him on the pitch is an obvious source of comfort.

A Celtic spokesperson told the club's website: 'Clearly all the best thoughts and best wishes of everyone at the Club are with Evander and his family at this time, and we are sure Evander can also count on the support from the entire Celtic family.'

Sno has also played for NAC Breda and RKC Waalwijk in his homeland and English Championship side Bristol City, and represented Holland at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.
