Paul Gascoigne will now attend Tottenham's Europa League game against Lazio, the agent of the former England star confirmed on Tuesday.

Gascoigne became a cult hero at Spurs after four successful years at White Hart Lane and he then went on to achieve similar status at Lazio after moving to the Italian capital in 1992.

The affection with which he is remembered by the Italian club prompted their general manager Maurizio Manzini to immediately invite the 45-year-old to this Thursday's encounter between the two sides when they were drawn together in Group J in August.

Gascoigne looked set to miss the game after being booked to speak at an event in Eastleigh on Friday night.

But the former midfielder has now
accepted the offer of a ticket to the match and will defy his fear of
flying to catch a plane to the Italian city on Thursday before coming
back the morning after the fixture so he can fulfil his speaking
engagement.

Gascoigne's agent Terry Baker said:
'Paul will now go to the Lazio game. He is looking forward to seeing the
fans because he has a great affection for them.'

Gascoigne declined an invite to September's reverse fixture at White Hart Lane due to 'personal reasons'.

Gascoigne, who played 57 times for his country, was regarded as the most skilful English player of his generation.

Florent Malouda and Paulo Ferreira's relationship with Chelsea is at breaking point after the pair were ordered to play for the reserves in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Charlton on Friday.

Malouda, who has been told he will train with the Under 21 development squad for the remaining year of his contract, has been warned he could lose his squad number this week.

Chelsea chief Roberto Di Matteo will make a final decision this week, but his first team career appears to be over.

Malouda retained his number 15 shirt at the start of the season, but expects it to be taken off him after his dramatic fall from grace.

Ferreira has always been loyal to Chelsea and has been a popular member of the first team since signing from Porto in 2004.

Although he is no longer a regular in the starting line-up, he is understood to be furious that he was forced to play against Charlton.

The Chelsea outcasts reported to the club's training ground for the match against the Addicks' second string at Cobham.

Di Matteo's axing of the pair has echoes of Andre Villas-Boas' decision to banish Nicolas Anelka and defender Alex last season.

The pair were ordered to train and park on the academy site and were even told they could not attend the traditional silver service Christmas lunch at the training ground.

Most of Chelsea's players on international duty this week, but reserve team coach Dermot Drummy was ordered to play Malouda and Ferreira.

Malouda is no longer in the France set up and Ferreira cannot win his place back in defence for Portugal.

The former Lazio midfielder may, however, struggle to land a work permit, reducing his chances of securing a deal.

But there could be an agreement with Chelsea over a loan move for outcast striker Romelu Lukaku who has made clear his desire to play regular first-team football.

The Blues shelled out 17.4million for the Belgium international in August last year.

But he only started one match last term and made clear his unhappiness at being sidelined under Andre Villas-Boas and Roberto Di Matteo.

However, he played just four times – but only once in the Barclays Premier League with a 13-minute appearance in October – and scored a screamer against Birmingham in the Carling Cup.

The 31-year-old's last outing came in the 3-2 FA Cup third-round defeat to United on January 8 when he played the final eight minutes.

Hargreaves spent most of last summer trying to convince prospective clubs he was fully fit after having operations on both knees in 2008 and 2009 during his injury-hit spell at Manchester United, and he even resorted to posting videos on YouTube showing him training.

Mancini offered the former Bayern Munich star a chance after the player resisted interest from West Brom, but he was not included in the club's Champions League squad and started only two games, both in the Carling Cup, in his four appearances.

That quartet of games was as many as he had managed in the previous three seasons, however.

City have also released Israeli midfielder Gai Assulin, Ahmed Benali and fellow academy graduate Sean Tse while a number of scholars have also been let go.

Meanwhile, on-loan City striker Roque Santa Cruz admits he would like to sign permanently for Real Betis but knows much depends on how his parent club approach negotiations.

'I'm fine here and I want to stay and there will be talks, hopefully in the coming weeks, with my agent,' said the Paraguay international, speaking at a club sponsorship event.

'It is important to see them (City) face negotiations with a smile on their face.

'The club has made a major investment in me and is entitled to see something in exchange.

'They do not want to give away players, many players are in a situation like mine.

'But Betis have my word that I will do everything possible to stay, although it depends on City.'

Craig Gordon eyes new club to revitalise career

Come and get me! Gordon eyes new club to revitalise career as Sunderland stay draws to end

Craig Gordon has issued a come and get me plea to potential new employers after conceding his career at Sunderland is over and hasn't ruled out a move back to Scotland.

Gordon has been plagued by injury and dropped down the pecking-order at the Stadium of light with fellow stopper Simon Mignolet firmly in charge of the No 1 jersey.

The Black Cats paid a record 9million for Gordon five years ago but look set to let him go on a free this summer with the 29-year-old hoping to remain in the Barclays Premier League.

Gordon said: 'It's just a case now of me progressing my career somewhere else and finding the move that is right for me.

'I am just waiting to see what my options are and take it from there. It’s a case of waiting to see over the summer.

'There's nothing going on (with Celtic) at the moment. 'I'm out of contract now, so it's about seeing what offers come in and picking the best one from there really.

'I could stay in England or a move to Europe could appeal. I am open to any offer. I would love to stay in the English Premier League, but if that happens or not, if it's the best deal for me, time will tell.'

Gordon is also hopeful of playing a part in Scotland’s friendly against America, in Florida on Saturday, May 26.

'I have been training for a few months now, and hopefully I'll get some time on the pitch in America,' he said. 'I had a pretty good game against Bolton, I'm happy with the way I'm training and playing.

'It's just about getting a run of games now. Losing my place at Sunderland because of injury was frustrating, but that’s part of the game.
Other players come in and do well.'

John Guidetti warns Manchester City to play him or lose him

Guidetti warns City to play him or lose him after taking Holland by storm on loan spell

Manchester City striker John Guidetti has warned he may look to leave the Etihad Stadium if he is not promoted into the first team when he returns from loan at Feyenoord.

Guidetti has made his name during a loan spell with the Dutch giants, scoring 18 goals in just 17 games, and is not prepared to give up first-team football now he has had a taste.

Bayern Munich are known admirers of the 19-year-old Sweden striker, who was signed as a youth player by Sven-Goran Eriksson but has so far not had a sniff under Roberto Mancini.

But although Guidetti said it would be a wrench to leave Feyenoord after such a successful spell, the forward also admits he does not care where he ends up, so long as he remains a regular in the starting line-up.

Guidetti had a brief spell on loan at Burnley last season, scoring just one goal for the Clarets in five games.

But his striker's instincts have been more apparent in Holland, where he has become just the second player in the history of the Eredivisie to score hat-tricks in three consecutive home games.

And his stunning form has led to international recognition, with Guidetti making his Sweden debut in the 3-1 friendly win in Croatia last week.

Asked whether he had considered leaving City in the summer, Guidetti told FC Inter News: 'No, not yet.

'But the question is very simple: I want to play and if in Manchester they see me as the fourth or fifth choice, then Id rather go to a club where I can play.'

He added: 'It does not matter [where I go], what counts for me is to play.

'It would be painful for me to move from a place where I always play, like Feyenoord, to another where I might end up sitting on the bench constantly.'

Arsenal ponder Fiorentina bid for Marouane Chamakh

Arsenal flop Chamakh offered 6m summer escape route by Fiorentina

Arsenal could be tempted to part with Marouane Chamakh after receiving a 6million offer from Fiorentina.

Chamakh was the subject of a loan bid from the Italian side in January but Arsenal turned down the offer as they needed him for cover.

But the Morocco striker has flopped since joining the Gunners on a free transfer from Bordeaux in May 2010, and could be allowed to leave in the summer.

Arsene Wenger has come under heavy criticism for his side's underwhelming season, with fans urging him to ditch several of the squad's underperforming players after a seventh successive year without silverware.

Andrey Arshavin has already been shipped out to Zenit St Petersburg on loan, while Chamakh is likely to join Sebastien Squillaci and Park Ju-young in heading for the exit at the Emirates Stadium.

There are also doubts over the futures of Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott, despite their stellar showings in the 5-2 drubbing of Tottenham in the north London derby on Sunday.

Chamakh, 28, has made just 15 appearances for Arsenal this season and scored only one goal, in the defeat at Blackburn in September.

Kieran Gibbs returns to Arsenal squad

Gibbs hands Wenger defence boost on return to Arsenal squad after lengthy injury

The 22-year-old fullback has been sidelined following two hernia operations but now looks set to be included in the squad for Saturday's trip to Sunderland.

His last match came against Sunderland on October 16 and the club have had to take enmergency measures to fill the gap at left-back with centre-half Thomas Vermaelen being used in recent weeks.
