Simon Mantell is the most notable absentee from the British men’s hockey squad.

The Reading forward, capped 53 times for Great Britain, fractured a metatarsal in his left foot last month and missed out on the 16-man line-up.

His brother Richard and midfielder Mark Pearn were also left out of coach Jason Lee’s plans.

Harry Martin was the youngest inclusion at 19-years-old.

Captain Barry Middleton will hope to reach 100 GB caps in the tournament.

He said: 'We used to go to tournaments not believing we could do anything. But in recent years we’ve grown into a strong group who think we can win.'

The entire squad represent England and includes 12 members of the gold medal-winning group at the 2009 European Championships.

Coach Lee added: 'Simon Mantell’s selection wasn’t even a discussion point. He’s had a pin in his foot and struggles to walk. It would be a tenuous selection 32 days before our first game.'
