Yohan Blake and Usain Bolt were once again the star attractions at a cold and drizzly Diamond League meeting in Zurich.

Jamaican Blake, double Olympic silver medallist at London in the sprints, benefited from a false start by American rival Tyson Gay – and subsequent disqualification – to win the 100 metres in a time of 9.76 seconds.

Compatriot Nesta Carter was a distant second in 9.95secs with Ryan Bailey of the United States third.

Bolt was then pushed hard by Jason Young in the 200m but eventually eased away over the last 50 metres to take the plaudits in 19.66s.

Italy's World Cup-winning defender Alessandro Nesta has signed an 18-month contract with MLS side Montreal Impact.

'I'm very happy to be here,' the 36-year-old Nesta said on Thursday. 'Despite some offers to continue my career in Europe, I was looking for a new challenge and wanted to play in MLS.'

Nesta left AC Milan at the end of last season following 10 trophy-laden seasons with the Rossoneri.

He won two Champions League and two Serie A titles with Milan following his move from Lazio in 2002 and was widely regarded as one of his country's finest defenders.

He played 78-times for Italy and lifted the World Cup in 2006 after a penalty shootout win over France.

Nesta will link up with his former Lazio team mate Marco Di Vaio at struggling Montreal, who are currently eighth in the 10-team Eastern Conference with five wins from 19 matches.

'Upon visiting my friend Marco to see him play his first game with Montreal, I met great people in this club. I really liked what I saw and I was convinced Montreal was where I wanted to be,' Nesta said.

Impact coach Jesse Marsch was desperate to get the defender into action and help drag the team away from the lower reaches of the table.

'It's an incredible opportunity for our club to add a defender of his talent. We are very anxious to get him into our lineup because he will make us better on every level,' Marsch said.

Filippo Inzaghi and Gennaro Gattuso
both announced they will be leaving AC Milan in the summer.

The veteran pair follow in
the footsteps of Alessandro Nesta, who revealed that he was leaving the
Serie A club on Thursday.

'The first and only thing that I want
you to know forever is this: I played and won for us,' striker Inzaghi,
38, said in a statement on the Milan website.

'Playing without sharing emotions means nothing, but you and I, we, we did everything together. We were always on the same wavelength, and no-one will ever take that away from us.'

Midfielder Gattuso, 34, said he planned to go away.

'I'm going away for a year, this is goodbye. The moment has come to move myself away, but I don't know yet where I will go,' he said.

The pair won two Serie A titles and two Champions League crowns over more than a decade at the club, and both were World Cup winners with Italy in 2006.

The departures will necessitate some rebuilding work at Milan, who lost their Serie A title to Juventus last weekend.

Dwain Chambers was unable to defend his 60m title but did claim bronze for Britain's third medal of the day and fourth overall at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul.

Former drugs cheat Chambers' medal meant Britain matched their haul of four medals from Doha two years ago with one day of competition remaining.

Chambers was unable to defend his 60m title, but was happy to claim bronze behind American Justin Gatlin and Jamaica's Nesta Carter.

Gatlin – who like Chambers has also served a drugs ban – stormed to victory in 6.46s, with Chambers taking third by the narrowest of margins ahead of American Trell Kimmons, with both athletes given a time of 6.60s.

'I'm very happy,' Chambers said. 'I always knew it was going to be tough with those guys, but to get back on the podium again is a great feeling. To get up there is great and showed the old boy still has got it in the old legs.'

Asked about competing against Gatlin, Chambers said: 'I have no problem with the guy, we've all made mistakes. I've owned up, he's owned up and we just have to get on with it now.'
