Watford after Vincenzo Iaquinta

Watford hope Zola influence will bring former Juventus star Iaquinta to the club

UPDATED:

22:12 GMT, 17 July 2012

Watford will launch an ambitious bid to sign Juventus striker Vincenzo Iaquinta.

The 32-year-old former Italy forward has been linked with a move to Fulham in recent weeks but was at Watford yesterday and is understood to be considering joining Gianfranco Zola’s new-look squad.

Iaquinta, who was offered to Newcastle in January, spent the end of last season on loan at Cesena after being frozen out at Juventus.

The move comes as Zola cooled talk of a move for ex-AC Milan striker Filippo Inzaghi. The 38-year-old, who was reportedly due to visit on Tuesday for informal talks, has offers from Italy, America and China and is also attracting interest from Reading.

Zola, however, has moved to sign defender Fitz Hall, 31, from QPR on a free transfer to replace Adrian Mariappa and is looking at Udinese’s Switzerland midfielder Almen Abdi, 25.

The club have agreed to sell goalkeeper Scott Loach to Ipswich.

Fulham, meanwhile, are keen on signing Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku on a season-long loan. They have had a 2million bid rejected for Cardiff midfielder Peter Whittingham and will consider making an improved offer.

Clarence Seedorf says farewell to AC Milan after a trophy-laden decade at the San Siro

Seedorf says farewell to AC Milan after a trophy-laden 10 seasons with the Rossoneri

AC Milan have agreed to sign Chievo defender Francesco Acerbi and Genoa's Guinea midfielder Kevin Constant, but Clarence Seedorf is leaving after 10 years with the Rossoneri.

Milan, who lost their Italian league title to Juventus in May, are swelling their ranks having let several of the old guard leave the San Siro, including Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Filippo Inzaghi, Gianluca Zambrotta and Mark van Bommel.

Seedorf, who won the Champions League in 2003 and 2007 with Milan to notch up four winners' medals in total, joined the band of departures – but did not reveal where he is going amid reports he will join Brazil's Botafogo.

'I am leaving after 10 fantastic years – they were intense years, so many seasons passed by so quickly like everything that's great in life, the 36-year-old Dutchman told a news conference.

'I thank everyone, truly everyone. What emotion. I will let you know soon about my future. I am taking my time. I have lots of offers.'

It is understood that Seedorf wants to play on for another two seasons elsewhere before returning to Milan as part of the staff.

Massimiliano Allegri's side have drafted in Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo and Nancy's Bakaye Traor for next term but with Mathieu Flamini set to be released, another midfielder should arrive before the season's opener in August.

Milan also said in a statement that the midfielder Sulley Muntari has had surgery on knee ligament damage and is expected to be fit in five or six months.

The end of an era at AC Milan was greeted with tears from the players who will no longer wear the famous black and red shirt.

A host of established stars will move on from the club since summer after years of loyal service, with one such individual Filippo Inzaghi bowing out the match-winning goal in a 2-1 over Novara.

The 38-year-old, who has played 11 seasons at the San Siro, is yet to decide on his future and leaves with the likes of Gennaro Gattuso, Alessandro Nesta, Clarence Seedorf, Mark van Bommel and Gianluca Zambrotta.

Nearly of those who are waving goodbye to Milan, especially tough-tackling Gattuso who departs after 13 seasons, left the San Siro pitch in tears.

Milan, who won the title last year, finished second and four points behind unbeaten Juventus.

Filippo Inzaghi and Gennaro Gattuso
both announced they will be leaving AC Milan in the summer.

The veteran pair follow in
the footsteps of Alessandro Nesta, who revealed that he was leaving the
Serie A club on Thursday.

'The first and only thing that I want
you to know forever is this: I played and won for us,' striker Inzaghi,
38, said in a statement on the Milan website.

'Playing without sharing emotions means nothing, but you and I, we, we did everything together. We were always on the same wavelength, and no-one will ever take that away from us.'

Midfielder Gattuso, 34, said he planned to go away.

'I'm going away for a year, this is goodbye. The moment has come to move myself away, but I don't know yet where I will go,' he said.

The pair won two Serie A titles and two Champions League crowns over more than a decade at the club, and both were World Cup winners with Italy in 2006.

The departures will necessitate some rebuilding work at Milan, who lost their Serie A title to Juventus last weekend.
