Edgar Davids has been appointed joint head coach of League Two Barnet alongside Mark Robson.

The side are currently at the foot of the table with only three points from 11 games and are hoping for a change of fortunes by employing the former midfield enforcer.

Davids tweeted that not only was he looking forward to managing the club, he was also expecting to play for them as well.

He tweeted on Thursday night: 'Happy to say I will join my local football club Barnet fc as a player/coach.'

Davids also posted a photo of him shaking hands with the club's chairman Anthony Kleanthous, alongside Robson.

The club initially announced on
Twitter: 'Dutch legend, former Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and AC Milan
midfielder Edgar Davids joins Barnet & becomes joint Head Coach with
Mark Robson.'

The club's next match is at home against Plymouth on Saturday October 13 when Davids is sure to be given a warm welcome – despite his lack of coaching experience.

Barnet are yet to win in the league this season, their three points coming from draws.

Davids played for Tottenham and Crystal Palace during two separate spells in England.

He was a fan favourite at Spurs but although he did well he never quite matched his peak years in Italy.
