Manchester United have made the departure of their record signing Dimitar Berbatov their top priority after the arrival of Robin van Persie from Arsenal.

United want 8million for the Bulgaria striker, who cost 30.75m from Tottenham in 2008 and was the Premier League’s joint leading scorer when they won the league title two seasons ago.

But with only lukewarm interest from Russian clubs including CSKA Moscow, United are willing to negotiate and may even be forced to send Berbatov out on loan.

Asked if he had spoken to Arsenal, Mirallas said: 'My manager has. Me No.

'It's good. Thomas (Vermaelen) plays very good at Arsenal and now a lot of Belgian players are in the Premier League.

'Moving to England would be good for me, it’s good for my family and it’s a good opportunity, but I don't know, it's possible.'

Mirallas can play wide or up front, where he shone for his Greek club last season, picking up the league’s top scorer and player of the year gongs.

The Gunners face competition from all over Europe, with CSKA Moscow one of those to have shown serious interest, seeing a 5m bid rejected earlier this year.
