Celtic face a near impossible task to make the quarter-finals of the Champions League after Juventus scored in both halves to take the advantage at Parkhead.

Neil Lennon's side got off to the worse possible start as they went behind inside the first five minutes.

Alessandro Matri poked the ball through Fraser Forster's legs and got the ball over the line despite the best efforts of Kevin Wilson who tried to clear, but Claudio Marchisio clattered home the rebound to make sure.

The second came in the final 15 minutes when Matri played the ball into the path of Claudio Marchisio, the midfielder cut inside a tired Scott Brown challenge before smashing past Forster at his near post.

And the game was wrapped up when Juventus added a third when Efe Ambrose was caught horribly in possession by Claudio Marchisio who played in Mirko Vucinic and he finished well to beat Forster.

No deal: Former Pompey owner Balram Chainrai

Portsmouth fans have appealed to Balram Chainrai to help them save the stricken club.

Former owner Chainrai this week withdrew his offer to buy back Portsmouth, leaving the Pompey Supporters' Trust as the only remaining bidder.

But Hong Kong businessman Chainrai's company Portpin remains Pompey's biggest creditor and the PST have urged him to negotiate with them over the value of the club's ground, Fratton Park.

In an open letter to Chainrai, the PST said: 'We now believe the only stumbling block to the trust achieving an acceptable deal is the difference over our valuation of the ground.

'Therefore we respectfully ask you to provide us with a valuation supported by a least two independent commercial valuers which we will then enable us to consider our position in the hope of responding with an acceptable offer.'

Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen, Chelsea midfielder Conor Clifford and defenders Paul Connolly, of Leeds, and Burnley's Kevin Long have agreed one-month loan deals.

Bolton striker Kevin Davies has signed a new one-year contract at the club but Wanderers' relegation from the Barclays Premier League is being felt with 12 players on their way out.

Davies' current deal expired this summer but he has agreed to stay on, with defender Sam Ricketts also agreeing a two-year extension as manager Owen Coyle prepares his side for their npower Championship campaign.

Midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker has activated a release clause in his contract while a further 11 players have all been released after their deals ran out.

In a statement Bolton said discussions were continuing with goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen, deposed as number one by Adam Bogdan, and Zat Knight over their contracts.

'I was clear with Nigel. I asked him straight away whether he wanted to stay and be a part of what we are going to do next season,' Coyle said in a statement.

'He was honest and up front with us, because that is the type of man he is, and said that he wanted to exercise the clause in his contract, and so we wish him well.

'I would also like to thank the players that are leaving the club for their work at Bolton. We wish them all well.

'One of those is Ricardo Gardner, who has been with the football club for 14 years.

'He has offered incredible service to Bolton and I'd like to personally thank him for all of his efforts, particularly during the time I have worked with him.'

Southampton returned to winning ways at 10-man Nottingham Forest to remain top of the npower Championship.

Saints had seen their cushion at the summit disappear following successive defeats to Bristol City and Brighton as West Ham moved level on points with them.

But goals from Guly Do Prado, David Connolly and Morgan Schneiderlin got Nigel Adkins' side back on track as they remained ahead of the Hammers on goal difference.

It was a first away victory in the league for Saints in more two months.

For Forest, who had captain Luke Chambers sent off early in the second half, it signalled a fifth straight home league loss and left them languishing in the relegation places.

Marlon Harewood started a match for Forest for the first time in more than eight years as Reds boss Steve Cotterill made two changes.

Harewood made his City Ground return as a second-half substitute in the FA Cup against Leicester last weekend after signing a deal until the end of the season following a spell in Chinese football.

The striker's last start for the club was a goalscoring one in a 2-2 draw at Wigan in the old Division One on 22 November 2003.

He came into the team along with on-loan Manchester City full-back Greg Cunningham, fit again after a hamstring injury, as Andy Reid and Kieron Freeman were replaced.

Southampton made three changes with goalkeeper Kelvin Davis and strikers Do Prado and Connolly recalled after being rested against Coventry in the cup.

Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp was called into early action when he had to tip a long-range effort from Dean Hammond round a post.

Harewood was denied what looked like a certain goal midway through the first half when Jos Hooiveld made a superb last-ditch block inside the six-yard box.

Saints took the lead shortly afterwards following an attack down the right. Camp made a block following Connolly's cross, but Do Prado was on hand to tap in his 11th goal of the season after 27 minutes.

Joel Lynch should have equalised just after the half-hour mark, but the defender headed over the crossbar when Lewis McGugan picked him out at the far post from a corner.

Forest were reduced to 10 men in the 50th minute when referee Eddie Ilderton decided that Chambers had led with his arm in an aerial challenge with Connolly.

Gaps began to appear in the home defence as a result and Saints picked them off in the 65th minute when Connolly was teed up by Schneiderlin. The Irishman finished from close range for his sixth goal of the season.

Schneiderlin scored himself with 11 minutes remaining, finding the bottom left-hand corner with a well-struck right-foot shot from long distance.

Had it not been for Camp it would have been more. The Northern Ireland international tipped efforts wide from substitute Lee Holmes and Daniel Fox and pushed another shot from Hammond over the bar as Southampton continued to dominate.
