Jack Wilshere arrived at Arsenal's training ground on Friday in a flashy Ferrari to match team-mate Theo Walcott's wheels.

The 21-year-old sported the same model of the famous Italian car as Walcott did last week as Arsenal fine-tuned their preparations for the north London derby at their Colney base on Friday.

The Gunners make the short trip across north London on Sunday to take on their arch-rivals Tottenham in a potentially make-or-break clash.

Arsene Wenger will hope Wilshere's performance at the weekend is just as impressive as his car if the Gunners are to pick up three valuable points in the race to secure Champions League football next season.

Last month, Manchester United players arrived for work in a fleet of brand new Chevrolets as part of a 357m sponsorship with the American car giants.

Patrice Evra, Jonny Evans, Antonio Valencia and Tom Cleverley took delivery of their 184mph Chevrolet Camaro while Javier Hernandez acquired a Corvette.

After blowing his gasket on Boxing Day, Fergie's new electric car is right up his street…

He may have turned 71 today, but Sir Alex Ferguson has never been afraid to modernise, as his latest new signing shows.

The Manchester United manager has been purring about his latest investment, the energy-saving electric Chevrolet Volt.

When running in its near-silent electric mode the Volt has a range of around 50 miles, capable of getting Fergie to and from United’s training ground at Carrington.

‘I think the Volt is absolutely phenomenal,’ said Ferguson.

'A
friend of mine drove one in the States and kept going on and on about
it, so when I had the opportunity I said 'yeah I’m going to try it
because it’s the car of the future, really.

'I’m very pleased with it.’

An added bonus for the Scot is that the Volt only attracts a five per cent tax charge, meaning a higher rate taxpayer such as Ferguson will only have to pay 58.25 per month.

Ferguson isn’t the only man connected with United to enjoy cutting down on his carbon footprint.

Ex-United captain Gary Neville speaks proudly of the fact he owns a hybrid car and when he’s not driving his Vauxhall Ampera, he takes the train.

Five-time heavyweight world champion Evander Holyfield is selling some of his most prized possessions in a desperate bid to slash his 10million debt.

The American, who celebrates his 50th birthday next week, has frittered away his 350m fortune earned during a career that has so far spanned 28 years.

But while Holyfield still retains hope of fighting one of the Klitschko brothers in one final bumper pay day, more pressingly he must come to terms with the problems in his personal life.

Much of his money is spent on maintenance for the 11 children he has to five different mothers.

His lavish 109-room, 17-bathroom mansion on the outskirts of Atlanta has had to
be sold for 5m to ensure its not repossessed.

And in what has been touted as one of the greatest sales of sporting memorabilia in history, Holyfield will part with 20 pairs of gloves, the robes, trunks and boots he wore in his major fights.

Fantasy football 2012

Manchester United have revealed a bumper seven-year shirt sponsorship deal with car firm Chevrolet that is worth around 25million per season.

The link-up – which will see the American company's name on the front of United's jersey's from the 2014-15 season – will boost the coffers at Old Trafford.

There are fears over the club's long-term stability with the mounting debts under the Glazers, who are considering floating on the New York Stock Exchange.

Chevrolet will be the club's fifth shirt sponsor in history and the deal is worth well over the 20m per season Aon are currently paying.

United’s commercial director Richard Arnold said: 'This is a fantastic, long-term deal for the club.

'We have been partners with Chevrolet for only six weeks, but already they have produced some fantastic ideas that will benefit both the partnership and our 659 million followers around the world.

'They are a key partner on our current tour and I know they have enjoyed experiencing the buzz generated by our fanatical support and the sell-out crowds in South Africa, China, and Europe.

'It is a great thrill for those of us who work with partners all year round when an existing partner steps up to being one of our principal partners. This commitment to United and its fans will bring real benefits to everyone who cares about the club.'

Alan Batey, General Motors’ North America Vice President of US Sales and Service, said: 'We are extremely proud to connect our brand, Chevrolet, with Manchester United and its passionate supporters all around the world.

'Manchester United’s statistics are impressive, but this relationship goes far beyond the numbers – this relationship is about connecting our brand with the deep-seated emotion that surrounds the team everywhere it goes.

'When you consider the core values of Chevrolet, our passionate customers around the world, and our rich 100-year history, the partnership with Manchester United is a perfect fit.

'And, to be only the fifth name on the iconic red jersey is a genuine honour. We very much look forward to the road ahead and the opportunities we have in partnering with such a legendary club.'

Manchester United are set for a commercial tie-up with General Motors which is to be announced in the Chinese city of Shanghai on Thursday.

The deal will concern the GM brand Chevrolet and the 19-time English champions, with details to be disclosed at a press conference taking place at midday UK time.

United have a strong market presence as a club in the Far East, with research conducted on behalf of the club showing they have twice as many supporters in the region as Barcelona, their nearest rivals.

The same research, published on Wednesday, also claimed that almost 10 per cent of the world's entire population support Sir Alex Ferguson's team.

The club's commercial director, Richard Arnold, said such global levels of support had helped United's commercial income soar.

Arnold said: 'Our family of followers has doubled in five years and across the world this represents a very, very important asset and relationship for the club.'
