BT Sport are understood to be looking to the BBC for their main commentator after persuading Jake Humphrey to front their Barclays Premier League coverage.

Humphrey was the BBC's Formula One host last season but has signed a four-year deal with the new venture.

Radio 5 Live’s excellent John
Murray, who has the lead microphone role for the main radio football
match on the flagship Saturday programme, could be set to join Humphrey.

Murray is high on the wishlist of BT,
who last summer won the rights to show 38 live games a season for three
years, including 18 first-choice matches.

They are paying 738million over three seasons while Sky are paying 2.28billion for their rights.

One man set to stay at the BBC is Gary Lineker. The Match of the Day presenter is expected to sign a new contract.

But it was announced last week that Colin Murray is to be dropped as the Match of the Day 2 frontman next season.

Murray, who has anchored the Sunday
highlights show for two years since Adrian Chiles moved to ITV, is to be
replaced by rising BBC star Mark Chapman.

Oxford boss Chris Wilder revealed how Adam Chapman helped his side beat Wycombe despite suffering from a burnt nipple.

The 22-year-old was forced to go to hospital on Friday night after pouring boiling milk over his chest.

But he was able to take his place in the starting XI as Oxford won 3-1.
Boss Wilder told BBC Radio Oxford, said: 'It’s ridiculous. 'It is a new one for me, hopefully he’ll be okay in the future.'

Oxford have had their fair share of injuries this season, and Wilder admitted he could well do without players picking injuries up off the pitch.

But he did see the funny side of what was a quite painful incident for Chapman.

'I got out of bed early on Saturday like a good professional, making sure we’re all alright for the game,' he said.

'I picked up a text on my phone that got sent last night (Friday) from Andy Lord our physio.

'Adam Chapman, like this good dad he is, was making his baby some milk and he managed to shake the bottle up and down, but he didn’t put the lid back on properly.

'He burnt his chest and had to go to hospital for a check up.

'He’s burnt all his nipple. It’s an unusual injury, but he’s managed to play the game. We talk about injuries and what I have to go through in this job.'

Manchester City kit man behind messages worn by Mario Balotelli, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri

Why always them City kit manager revealed as man behind players' messages on shirts

Kit manager Les Chapman can be revealed as the man behind a new trend for Manchester City's stars who want to send messages round the world.

Both Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri celebrated scoring in Sunday's 3-2 win over Southampton at the Etihad Stadium by lifting their shirts to reveal a printed slogan on their official Umbro under-armour.

Nasri revealed a T-shirt with Muslim greeting Eid Mubarak written on it, while Tevez showed the latest reference to his native Buenos Aires.

They follow in the wake of Mario Balotelli, who famously posed the question: 'Why always me' on his City T-shirt.

The printing – using the equipment normally kept by Chapman and his team for putting names on the back of shirts – marks a move on from the previous practice of scribbling slogans for the cameras with a felt-tip pen.

And while City are indulging their stars at the moment that might change if it brings any more bookings – as happened to Nasri on Sunday – with the fear of that leading to suspensions.

Nasri was booked and Tevez wasn't because the Frenchman pulled the shirt over his chin, but Tevez didn't. New FIFA guidelines state that any player 'removing his shirt or covering his head with it' must be cautioned and referee Howard Webb duly followed the new directive on goal celebrations.

Tevez, in particular, has form in the T-shirt tidings stakes and was sending out birthday wishes to folk back home in Argentina during his Manchester United days.

They were scribbled in his own hand, as was the Feliz Cumple Mami (Happy Birthday Mum) after his solo goal against Chelsea at The Etihad last season.

City now appear to be indulging him after allowing the use of Chapman and his printing team for neatly arranged block capitals.

For now they are, anyway, though all that could change, if the authorities get shirty with the habit and force a rethink by club bosses.

Beach balls

Nobody is more obsessed with
practice than Vijay Singh and he is regularly the first man on the
driving range at 6am. But news that the big Fijian spent early Thursday
evening hitting sand shots among the dunes on the beach will astonish
even those familiar with the 49-year-old’s habits. Maybe this golf
course just isn’t hard enough for him.

It’s an ill wind

The improved weather forecast for the weekend will cheer mobile chemist James Powell. Preparing for a summer working at pop festivals and sporting events, he bought 1,500 bottles of suntan lotion back in the spring. As of Friday lunchtime, he still had 1,450 left. The most common ailment here this week Chafing. ‘Too many middle-aged folk not used to all this walking,’ he smiled.

Staying grounded

Radio 5 Live’s Mark Chapman is a pretty unflappable character but he cut a rather nervous figure on Thursday, having been told he was to spend part of Friday in a TV hoist in order to describe a bird’s-eye view of the course. Ultimately, though, the Beeb decided Chappers was too valuable roaming the fairways. At least, that was his slant on his rather lucky escape.

Six pack see an ace

A handful of the fans hardy enough to still be on the course late on Wednesday evening witnessed evidence of halfway leader Brandt Snedeker’s talent. The likeable American holed his tee shot on the par four 16th hole for a three-under-par hole-in-one while playing on his own in practice. ‘There were only six people there,’ he said.

Thumbs up for…

The Lytham green staff. It was 3.10am on Friday when they were roused from their beds because the course was flooding under yet another deluge. At 7am there were lakes on the 15th fairway and the main entrance and hospitality areas were submerged. Thanks to water pumps, squeegees and old-fashioned hard work, though, play still started on time. Fantastic!

Thumbs down for…

Blackpool Pleasure Beach. The Fylde coast is full of wealthy golf tourists hoping to spend time in the area surrounding Lytham, especially the famous resort resplendent in all its gaudy glory. But one of its most popular attractions is closed in the evening. The gates have been locked on the Big One, the Ghost Train, etc at 6pm every night this week.
