There is a long list of football fans who aren't great admirers of Luis Suarez due to some of his on-pitch exploits. This afternoon, Mansfield supporters were added to that ever-growing list.

In the past he's been booked – sometimes wrongly – for diving, banned for racially abusing Manchester United defender Patrice Evra, and even received a seven-game suspension for biting an opposing player while at Dutch club Ajax.

As Ghana fans will tell you, Liverpool's talisman has also been known to handle the ball on occasion.

Back in 2010, the Uruguayan striker
was red-carded for deliberately palming the ball off the line during a
World Cup quarter-final against Ghana, which ultimately helped his side
progress to the semis.

Today, Suarez was at it again. Liverpool's top scorer – who replaced new boy Daniel Sturridge against Mansfield – found himself bearing down on Alan Marriott's goal just moments after coming on to the pitch.

At 1-0 up, the 25-year-old powered his effort into the flailing keeper, who did well to keep the ball out.

But as the ball popped up in the area, Suarez appeared to bring the ball back under control with the use of his arm.

By this point, Suarez needed only to
roll the ball into Marriot's open goal, doubling the visitors' lead and
setting them on course for a fourth round meet with Oldham Athletic at
Boundary Park.

After
scoring, amidst furious protests from the Mansfield players, Suarez
performed his trademark celebration, calmly kissing the tattoo on the inside
of his wrist. He does do this after scoring every goal, of course.

Matt Green set up a grand-stand finish for the Non-League hosts after netting in the 79th minute.

But Suarez's brazen handball is sure
to leave the most bitter of tastes in Mansfield manager Paul Cox's mouth, as the
Uruguayan's goal proved decisive.

Newcastle are poised to return to Ajax to sign Dutch Under 21 international Jody Lukoki.

Alan Pardew and his scouting team have watched Ajax extensively over the past two years and it resulted in the signing of Vurnon Anita last summer.

Now they want his former teammate to add an extra attacking dimension to their play.

Jan Vertonghen believes Tottenham target Christian Eriksen would be a big hit in England if he decides to swap Ajax for the Premier League.

Vertonghen played with the young midfielder in Amsterdam before joining Spurs in the summer.

Eriksen is out of contract at the end of next season and he is already being tracked by Europe's biggest clubs.

The young Denmark international has indicated he will not sign a new deal with Ajax and Vertonghen, who scored the only goal of the game against Swansea on Sunday, would love to be reunited with his former team-mate.

'Technically, he's one of the best players I've played with,' Vertonghen told the Evening Standard.

'He can use his right foot and his left foot equally well and he is always fit.

'Since he was 17 or 18 he has played so many games for Ajax and hardly ever been injured. When he gains a bit more physical strength, then I think he can play in any team. 'I don't want to speak for him but he is a good player, and I think a good player can play here.'

City are the best team in the Premier League… nobody can beat us, claims Kolarov

Aleksandar Kolarov rounded on Manchester City's critics on Tuesday and claimed they are unbeatable when they show the spirit that carried them to a dramatic win over Tottenham.

Despite not hitting peak form so far, City remain the only unbeaten side in the Barclays Premier League and are just two points off top spot after overturning a 1-0 deficit against Tottenham on Sunday.

'I understand why we get so much criticism, but if we carry on playing with the same spirit we showed against Spurs, nobody can beat us,' declared the City left-back.

'Everyone wants to, because we are the champions and we haven't lost this season. The smallest teams and the biggest teams, they all want to beat us and they all give 200 per cent to try and do it.

'We may have lost games in the Champions' League, but I think we are still the best team in the Premier League. Beating Spurs was a big step, not just for the three points but because we had a good spirit. We need to stay on this road, train well and keep playing to this level.'

Kolarov admitted misgivings over City's zonal marking system and urged team-mate Edin Dzeko to shrug aside any frustration at not being in the starting line-up.

'We need to improve on set-pieces, because we conceded two goals against Ajax in the Champions' League and then another on Sunday,' he said.

'We mark from zone to zone but nobody knows who needs to mark the player.

'It is important for us that Edin continues to score, whether from the bench or starting. It is tough, but not just for him. It is the same for me and others who do not play every game. It is hard to keep your form at a high level, but we are professional and need to accept it is the manager's choice.'

Ajax's Vurnon Anita is having a medical at Newcastle.

A fee of around 6.7million is reported to have been agreed between the two clubs and the Magpies now look well placed to tie up a deal for Anita in time for their opening Barclays Premier League game of the season at home against Tottenham on Saturday.

The 23-year-old has won three senior caps for Holland having played for them at various youth levels, but was not part of their squad for Euro 2012.

Able to play in midfield or defence, he came through the academy set-up at Dutch giants Ajax and made his first-team debut in the 2005/06 season.

Newcastle have already signed Romain Amalfitano, Curtis Good and Gael Bigirimana this summer.

Newcastle hope to complete a move for Ajax midfielder Vurnon Anita in the coming days but have yet to finalise the 6.7million deal.

The fee has been agreed between the two clubs and all that remains is for the 23-year-old to complete negotiations over personal terms which are expected to take place this week.

'The clubs have a deal, I think,' Anita said in The Independent. 'Now I have to reach an agreement with Newcastle. I have an offer, but I can’t say more about this.

'The clubs have agreed a fee, but I have not. I’m still an Ajax player. I think it will be finished soon, but you never know how it will go.

'I have played for Ajax for 13 years, it has been a great time and I am grateful to Ajax.

'Now it’s up to me. But first I want to talk with the manager of Newcastle United before taking a decision. The whole picture has to be right for me.'

Newcastle have reached agreement with Ajax over a 6.2million deal for Dutch international Vurnon Anita.

Sportsmail were first to reveal the Toon's interest in Anita, 23, who can play left-back or in midfield, when a 5m bid was turned down in July.

At the time, the player's agent said: 'There is serious interest from Newcastle. A move to the Premier League is so tempting for him. We have to resolve the situation quickly.'

Anita has three caps for Holland but was not selected in their Euro 2012 squad. He was a key part of Ajax's title-winning side last season and coach Frank de Boer was keen to keep hold of him, having seen captain Jan Vertonghen already depart the club for Tottenham.

'We'll do all we can to try and keep Vurnon here. He’s a very valuable player,' De Boer said in July.

He made his farewell appearance for Ajax on Sunday against AZ Alkmaar and is due for a medical at Newcastle on Monday.
