We never doubted N'Zogbia's talent, says Petrov after winger shines in draw
Stiliyan Petrov insists he can see signs that Charles N’Zogbia is finally emerging from the stupor that has blighted his first season at Aston Villa.
The French winger has often been the stick fans have used to beat unpopular manager Alex McLeish.
A return of two goals in 25 appearances has been a paltry return for the 9.5m McLeish paid Wigan for his capture in July.

But that second goal in four games secured a 1-1 draw at Blackburn on Saturday and persuaded his skipper that N’Zogbia is finally showing the form that made him a sensation at the DW Stadium.
Petrov said: 'He’s motivated to go and show what he’s all about.
'He went through a tough period but he’s a strong character. Some people need longer to settle and some need shorter. Maybe it took him longer to settle down but he’s finally starting to show what he’s all about.
'He’s certainly a good lad, he’s great to have around. We know what kind of lad he is, it has been frustrating for him that he couldn’t show what he can do. But now finally he can show it.

'He’s scoring goals and when you start scoring goals that is where the confidence comes.'
Despite the criticism from frustrated Villa fans, Petrov revealed N’Zogbia always had the backing of his team-mates.
He added: 'I’ve said before we believe in Charles and we believe in every member of that squad and that’s why we are united.
'Every player goes through a bad period and that’s why we are teammates who support each other.'
