Manchester City manager Roberto
Mancini blasted FIFA’s ‘ridiculous’ rules over injured players on Friday
after striker Sergio Aguero was called up for Argentina’s next two
World Cup qualifiers.
Aguero has been ruled out with a knee
injury until the middle of next month but is still expected to turn up
for games against Paraguay and Peru on September 7 and 11.

Blow: Sergio Aguero was injured on the opening day against Southampton

Mancini will try to avoid a row by
speaking to Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella but accepts Aguero may
face a 14,000-mile round trip to complete the formality of being
declared unfit.
‘It is impossible that he can play,’
he said. ‘He needs a minimum of two weeks without training. If they
insist on him having a medical over there, he will have to go, then
catch the next flight back.
'We have to respect the rules but
they’re ridiculous. ‘I will contact people in Argentina, so hopefully we
can avoid any problems.’
