West Brom midfielder Keith Andrews has backed Roy Hodgson to be a success with England.

And Liverpool fan Andrews insists his Anfield nightmare should not stand in his way.

The Irishman said: 'The gaffer is being linked with England for a reason — the reason is he’s very good.

'If you ask the players, or players who’ve worked under him at previous clubs, the feedback is positive.

'I’m a Liverpool fan but I thought the timing wasn’t great when he went there.

'Only the FA will know how much that altered their view. But he’s rebuilt himself here.'

Saturday’s draw with Villa guarantees Hodgson’s Baggies will finish as top Midlands club for the first time in 33 years.

Another West Brom player has also learned his support to Hodgson.

Steven Reid said on Sunday night: 'Be very hard to turn down England managers job!'

And following the negative feeling in the press towards Hodgson, Reid took to Twitter on Monday morning, saying: 'Obviously those in the press who have hammered Hodgson have never met or worked with the man.'
