Rangers 0 Dundee United 2: Ibrox men face trophyless season after shock Cup defeat
Rangers were dumped out of the Scottish Cup after a shock defeat at home to fellow Scottish Premier League side Dundee United.
Having been unable to add to his squad after losing Nikica Jelavic to Everton, Ally McCoist was short of attacking options.
And it was the visitors who struck first when Gavin Gunning bulleted a header past the helpless Allan McGregor.
Johnny Russell, a target for Rangers in the transfer window, doubled United's advantage shortly before half time when he fired home following a well-worked move.
