Nadal to take time out to rest recurring shoulder injury after Australian Open

World No 2 Rafael Nadal plans to take several weeks off after the Australian Open in January to recover from a shoulder injury suffered before November’s ATP World Tour Finals in London.

The Spaniard said: ‘I had to stop for about 10 days before the Finals. It felt better again but resurfaced. I couldn’t practise.’
