Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to sign a Premier League striker and has Edin Dzeko or Luis Suarez at the top of his list as part of an 80million summer spending spree.
The former Chelsea boss has identified Liverpool striker Suarez and Manchester City’s Dzeko as the men to establish the Qatar-owned club as real Champions League contenders.
Dzeko is understood to be available as the Bosnia international has made just 16 starts for Manchester City this season.
Paris bound: Edin Dzeko is wanted by PSG
Suarez’s signature may be harder to get and will need the willingness of the Uruguay striker to encourage Liverpool to sell.
The 25-year-old, who was signed from Ajax for 22.8m in January 2011, has endured a troubled season, receiving an eight-match suspension for racially abusing the Manchester United captain Patrice Evra.
Tempt away: PSG are also keen on Liverpool's Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez
Liverpool’s failure to qualify for the Champions League, their limited summer transfer budget and Suarez’s close friendship with PSG centre-back Diego Lugano are all factors in a potential bid.
Ancelotti is also interested in two Spanish based strikers, Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, who was born in France, and Valencia striker Roberto Soldado.
