Daniel Sturridge is set to be handed the centre forward role he craves at the London Olympics.
The disappointment felt by the Chelsea forward on failing to make Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2012 squad will be eased somewhat with Stuart Pearce naming him in his provisional 35-man Team GB party.

Manchester United’s Ryan Giggs is set to be an over-age player and will take part in his first major international tournament at 38.
With David Beckham, Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Gareth Bale vying for wide midfield slots, Sturridge is primed to be deployed in his favoured central striker role.
He was used as a wide player by Chelsea last season but, speaking last month, he said: ‘I see myself as a centre forward and, hopefully, next season I will be. I don’t see myself playing on the wing.’
