Lewis Hamilton was forced into a grovelling climbdown after accusing McLaren team-mate Jenson Button of lacking respect.
Hamilton, who is leaving for Mercedes at the end of the season, claimed Button had stopped following him on Twitterr.
The 27-year-old took to Twitter and said: ‘Just noticed @jensonbutton unfollowed, thats a shame. After 3 years as teammates, I thought we respected one another but clearly he doesn’t.’
However, less than an hour later, Hamilton added: 'My bad, just found out Jenson never followed me. Don't blame him! Need to be on Twitter more!'
Publicly, the pair have always put on a united front as the faces of McLaren. However, behind the scenes Button is known to have taken a dim view of Hamilton’s behaviour in recent times.

He was angered by Hamilton tweeting
confidential telemetry information at the Belgian Grand Prix last month –
an unprecedented breach of team ethics. Button said at the time he was
‘disappointed’ by the incident, but privately he was fuming.
Hamilton’s latest tweet has clearly
revealed the cracks in the pair’s relationship, and is likely to create
an awkward mood in the McLaren camp, with another five races to go until
the season ends in Brazil on November 25.
