Huntelaar cool on United move as Dutch striker targets new deal at Schalke
Dutch striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar insists he is happy at Schalke despite reported interest from Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of the 28-year-old, who has rediscovered his form at the German side following disappointing spells at Real Madrid and AC Milan
Red hot: Huntelaar has been in imperious form for Schalke this season.
The Holland international has scored 15 goals in 16 matches in the Bundesliga this season, as well as six goals in seven Champions League matches.
He was linked with a possible swap deal with out of favour Dimitar Berbatov in the January transfer window after United were hit by injuries to Danny Welbeck, Javier Hernandez and Michael Owen.
But Huntelaar insisted he was only focused on Schalke.
“I know nothing of alleged interest from Manchester United,” Huntelaar told German magazine Voetbal International.
On target: Huntelaar has scored 15 goals in 16 games this season
“I will not even speculate, I am concentrating fully on Schalke.
“I”ll let any offers come to me quietly and will then see what happens. This is the attitude I”ve always had.
“My contract runs until the summer of 2013. If they [Schalke] want to talk, I”ll gladly listen.”
