Jack Collison could always be dogged by a knee problem following his efforts in getting West Ham back into the Premier League.
The midfielder, 23, has not kicked a ball this season and manager Sam Allardyce said: ‘That knee unfortunately is never going to be 100 per cent so he has to do a management job. He is paying the price for his efforts last season.
'An operation would make it better but it would never recover 100 per cent. I hope it doesn’t get to that.’
Worry: Jack Collison might suffer knee trouble throughout his career
