Lloris expected to be first choice but will have an opportunity to show what he can do in the Europa League against Lazio.
The former Lyon goalkeeper has been
training with goalkeeping coach Tony Parks and mixing with the team in
training to ease him into the squad.
Villas-Boas admitted he will be
rotating his team during the competition he won with Porto in 2011.
Having labelled Friedel his first choice, the Europa League could be the
source of the main action Lloris sees.
said: ‘The Premier League is extremely strenuous. It is extremely
difficult and rotation has to be involved when you make the team
selection. We understand it is important to rest players and we need to
be very, very careful from now on.’
