We don't want Chelsea to win! Pardew and Redknapp fear missing out on Champions League spot
08:29 GMT, 27 April 2012
Unsurprisingly both Alan Pardew and Harry Redknapp are rooting for Bayern Munich to beat Chelsea in the Champions League final.
If the Blues triumph on May 19 they will be granted Champions League qualification for 2012-13 at the expense of the side which finishes fourth in the Barclays Premier League.
One more night like this: A Chelsea win in the final would be disastrous for Tottenham and Newcastle
With both Newcastle and Tottenham vying
for the league position it would be disastrous for them if Roberto Di
Matteo can steer Chelsea to victory in the Final.
Spurs boss Redknapp said: 'I’d be a liar if I said I want Chelsea to win the Champions League. I want Bayern to win it, and I hope they do, for all Spurs fans.'
No: Alan Pardew and Harry Redknapp will not be supporting the Blues in Europe
Meanwhile Newcastle manager Pardew explained how a Chelsea victory would be bitterly disappointing for the Toon army.
He said: 'We don’t want Chelsea to win because we want that spot, along with Tottenham and Arsenal.
'It would be very harsh if we finished fourth and then missed out on the Champions League. It would be a kick in the teeth.'
Qualifying for the Champions League would bring a financial windfall of around 40million for both clubs, so missing out would be costly.
