Frimpong to undergo further eye tests after Petrov challenge

Emmanuel Frimpong will undergo further tests on the eye injury which saw him carried off against Aston Villa on Saturday.

The midfielder, on loan from Arsenal, was taken to hospital after receiving a boot in the face from Stiliyan Petrov.

The 20-year-old has severe swelling around his eye and will need further examination to discover the extent of the damage.

Wolves say he could be sidelined for up to three months. Ironically, Frimpong made a name for himself last week when his shot poleaxed Spurs striker Rafael van der Vaart.

The Wolves website has posted footage of the incident under the headline You've Been Frimponged, but that came back to haunt them.

'I can't remember too much about it,' said Frimpong. 'I remember heading the ball and then got a kick in the face. We'll have to give it a couple of days and wait for it to settle down.'
