Federico Macheda's season looks over after the striker was sent back to Manchester United for treatment on an ankle injury.
Macheda joined QPR on loan in January when Neil Warnock was manager but fell down the pecking order when Mark Hughes took over.

The 20-year-old Italian made just six appearances for the Londoners and put further strain on his relationship with Hughes with a controversial tweet after being left out of the squad to face Everton at the beginning of March.
Macheda signed for United on youth terms from Lazio in 2007. He has also had a loan spell with Sampdoria.
