Newcastle United captain Fabricio Coloccini and midfield enforcer Cheick Tiote will return to lift Alan Pardew’s side at Manchester United on Wednesday.
And the Newcastle boss says the pair’s long-awaited comebacks are a sign he is taking Capital One Cup success seriously.
Pardew said: 'It is difficult to sum up in words. They are a huge presence for the team and some of our rhythm is gained by having someone like Cheick in the side.

'He can put the opposition on the back foot. He brings a level to training that a few more players could do in my experience. He is very important to us. There is no doubt in my mind, if he is fit, he plays.
'Fabricio’s influence in the dressing room is so calming. He gives us an assurance and I think we have missed that. I could not have asked for more from the centre-backs in his absence but it is just nice having him back.
In it to win it: Alan Pardew is taking the cup seriously
'Obviously, as a manager, you are going to protect players for competitions you think are more important to grow as a club and we are trying to grow here. I know one thing, the team I put out will have to be able to win.'
