ENGLAND STARTING XI

Gerrard, Parker (C), Barry
reveal that England caretaker boss Stuart Pearce will start
Steven Gerrard against Holland tonight alongside new captain Scott Parker.
The Liverpool skipper was overlooked by Pearce for the armband – vacated by John Terry last month – with Pearce opting to hand it to the Tottenham midfielder, who leads his country for the first ever time.
Danny Welbeck will start as a lone
striker against Holland with Ashley Cole dropped to the bench for
tonight's friendly at Wembley.
Everton's Leighton Baines will join the back-four alongside Chelsea's Gary Cahill, Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and Manchester City right-back Micah Richards, who makes his first England start since Steve McClaren was in charge.
Gareth Barry joins the midfielder alongside Parker and Gerrard with Ashley Young and Adam Johnson picked to start on the wings.

Meanwhile, Robin van Persie is set to play despite a worrying injury scare.
Arsenal captain failed to complete Holland's training session on
Tuesday due to a groin problem and walked off the Wembley pitch for the
final 15 minutes.
Van Persie was in visible discomfort before coming off, missing an eight-a-side training match.
But it is believed he is now ready to take his place in the starting line-up for the visitors.
