Dutch hooligan handed four months” jail sentence for attacking AZ goalkeeper
An Ajax Amsterdam fan who invaded the pitch and attacked AZ Alkmaar goalkeeper Esteban Alvarado has been sentenced to four months” jail by a Dutch court.
The judge gave the 19-year-old supporter – identified as Wesley van der W – an additional two months” suspended imprisonment. He was also ordered to report to a police station during matches involving Ajax, Alkmaar and the Dutch national team for two years.
Thecup match at the Amsterdam Arena on December 20 was abandoned in the 36th minute with AZ trailing 1-0 after goalkeeper Alvarado was sent off for kicking the fan who had launched a karate-style kick at him from behind.

The dramatic scenes unfolded earlier this month when the spectator attacked Esteban who was then was dragged away by security staff.
Referee Bas Nijhuis gave the 22-year-old stopper a straight red card for his actions which prompted manager Gert Jan Verbeek to withdraw his players from the pitch.
The red card has since been rescinded by the Dutch FA.

The governing body said in statement Wednesday it “would be unreasonable” to resume the match in the 37th minute because AZ would have to play with 10 men due to the Costa Rica goalkeeper”s red card.
The match will therefore be replayed January 19 and the winner will face amateur club GVVV in the quarter-finals.
A statement read: “The keeper was attacked unexpectedly and therefore the prosecutor judged that his mood caused his response against his attacker.”

At the time, the official who gave Esteban his marching orders said: “I understand that Esteban was defending himself, but he walked to him (the supporter) and kicked him multiple times. He could also have walked away.”
Alkmaar coach Verbeek ordered his side off and attempts to convince them to return failed as club director Toon Gerbrands said: “The players didn”t feel safe anymorein this situation.”
Ajax apologised to their opponents and insisted the pitch invader would be banned for life.
