Berbatov could rejoin Leverkusen, with United striker spotted on plane to Germany
Return: Could Dimitar Berbatov go back to Leverkusen
Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov is set for talks over a return to Bayer Leverkusen.
Sportsmail revealed interest from his former club last month but the Bulgarian had intimated he was ready to stay at Old Trafford with United offering a new contract.
But the 30-year-old, who has also had interest from Bayern Munich and Anzhi Makhachkala, wants to hear what is on offer from the club he left in 2006.
Berbatov was spotted flying to Germany with his agent on Sunday night.
He is permitted to talk to other clubs about signing for them in the summer, as Manchester United have not yet invoked an option to extend his contract, which runs out in June.
The inconsistent forward is the club's record signing at 30.75m, but has only featured sporadically this season for the Red Devils.
He did finish as joint top scorer in the Premier League season 2010-11, alongside Carlos Tevez on 20 goals each.
