Veteran Beckham to pick up 160,000 a week if he joins Ancelotti at French giants PSG
Millions: Beckham is on the verge of signing a multi-million pound contract
David Beckham is on the verge of joining Carlo Ancelotti at Paris Saint-Germain, with the former England captain set to scoop 12.5million in the process.
The 36-year-old will sign a 160,000 per week, 18 month deal with the French league leaders after his five-year deal with LA Galaxy ends on Saturday.
Beckham”s big-money deal has infuriated some French politicians – the opposition Socialist Party have proposed a law which would create a maximum salary cap.
The former England captain is one of a number of PSG targets, including Real Madrid”s Kaka and Chelsea winger Florent Malouda, who could link up with former Blues boss Ancelotti.
The Italian will be the highest paid manager in French football, earning 110,000-a-week over two and a half years – totalling 14.3million.
Move: Beckham enjoyed five years at LA Galaxy
New job: Ancelotti has been biding his time since leaving Chelsea
Ancelotti was fired by Chelsea in May, and by signing for PSG will forego five months worth of severance pay from the Blues.
But with PSG”s owners – the Qatar Investment Authority – arranging this new bumper deal, he is unlikely to miss it.
