Dempsey highlights Champions League ambitions as Arsenal and Liverpool dither

Clint Dempsey has given Arsenal the green light to sign him by reiterating his desire to play Champions League football.
Arsene Wenger is interested in bringing the American hotshot to north London and Dempsey only has one year left on his Fulham deal.
'The transfer window is open until August 31 – its no secret that I would like to play Champions League one day in my career,' he said.

'If it’s meant to be, it will be.'
The 29-year-old signed for Fulham in 2007 from New England Revolution and is desperate to play in Europe’s elite club competition.
But Dempsey says he will remain focused on his role with the Cottagers in the meantime.
The USA international scored 17 Barclays Premier League goals for Fulham in the 2011/12 season and reckons he will give his all for the West London club until his future is decided.
He said: 'What I do is focus on the teams that I play for and I give my heart to them, work as hard as I can to try to make the most of my time and make the most of the career that I have left.'

Dempsey, who is currently with the USA squad ahead of Thursday’s friendly with Brazil, was encouraged by national coach Jurgen Klinsmann last week to make the step up to a team playing in the Champions League.
Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with the dynamite Texan.
Speaking to FOX Soccer, Dempsey said: 'I don’t get caught up in that [speculation] because until somebody is putting down some money it doesn’t matter.
'If teams are really interested, they need to put their money with their mouth is and make an offer.’
