Clint Dempsey has edged closer to a move to Liverpool after pulling out of Fulham's pre-season training camp in Liverpool.
The American forward is desperate to leave Craven Cottage this summer in what would likely be the last big move his career.
The 29-year-old wants a crack at the Champions League having served Fulham with distinction for more than five years.

Liverpool are playing hardball over the transfer because Dempsey has just entered the final year of his contract, and the Reds believe they will eventually secure his services for 5million. Fulham want just under double that figure.
So with the clubs at an impasse, Dempsey has taken matters into his own hands, according to Goal.com, who report the player and manager Martin Jol had a heated debate at the training ground before the Dutchman eventually relented.
Fulham flew to Switzerland for the week-long trip on Monday without their star man, who scored 23 goals in all competitions last season.
Any further activity from Liverpool depends on the future of Andy Carroll.
Newcastle are considering a fresh move for the striker after West Ham outlined a 2million loan fee with Liverpool.
