Everton avoided an FA Cup third round upset in Gloucestershire as they eased past League Two high-flyers Cheltenham on Monday.
Nikica Jelavic opened the scoring in the 12th minute when he pounced on Marouane Fellaini's rebounded effort and Leighton Baines converted a penalty shortly after as the Premier League side led 2-0 at half-time.
Leon Osman made it 3-0 within minutes of the restart before Russell Penn pulled one back for Cheltenham.
But Seamus Coleman restored the three-goal cushion moments later and Fellaini rounded off the scoring just before the end as Victor Anichebe provided assists for both goals.
Everton will travel to either Bolton or Sunderland in the fourth round at the end of January.
