The proposed three-and-a-half-year deal for the City rebel includes wages of 10m a year – matching what he was on at City – and he will also be given a mammoth signing on fee of 8.3m, according to The Sun.

City stated on Tuesday that reports of an offer being accepted from PSG for the Argentinian were wide of the mark, but the Ligue 1 leaders have since made contact.

PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti is confident a deal can be done before the transfer window closes, but concedes negotiations are out of his hands at this stage.

He said: 'Everyone knows that we want a striker. Carlos Tevez – it's a great opportunity for us to have a great striker.

'I haven't had him on the phone, not him or his agent. It's (director of football) Leonardo who is looking after that.'
