Forget Mayweather v Pacquiao! Froch targets May 5 homecoming
Carl Froch is set for a homecoming fight at Nottingham Arena on May 5.
The former super middleweight world champion lost his WBC title to American Andre Ward last month.
And while he remains open to meeting IBF champion Lucian Bute, Froch is attracted by the prospect of fighting in front of a home crowd.
Homecoming: Carl Froch targets May 5 bout at Nottingham Arena
Froch’s promoters, Matchroom, are eyeing a top-10 ranked opponent with former world champion Kelly Pavlik and Jean Paul Mendy touted as possible opponents.
American television network Showtime are contracted to one more Froch bout and talks over a fight with Bute in Montreal on April 14 are ongoing but the Canadian is also eyeing Ward or Bernard Hopkins.
Should Froch opt to fight in Nottingham, it would serve as a stepping stone to a fight with Bute or a rematch with Mikkel Kessler later in the year.
