Jeering Luiz Suarez will only inspire the Uruguay
star to knock Great Britain
out of the Olympics, his
strike partner Edinson
Cavani warned.

Stuart Pearce's side know a
point against the South
Americans at Cardiff's
Millennium Stadium on Wednesday night will be enough for
them to qualify for the
quarter-finals.

Great Britain v Uruguay

But, with Senegal expected to beat the
United Arab Emirates and advance from Group A, Team GB fear that defeat
by Uruguay will kill off their hopes.

And
they are well aware of the threat posed by Suarez, the controversial
Liverpool striker who was jeered by British fans in Uruguay's games at
Old Trafford and Wembley.

Neither of Uruguay's star strikers has scored so far.

But Cavani believes any abuse could backfire by making Suarez even more
determined to put his country through at Britain's expense.

'Luis knows that the crowd might be against him, but that is the worst
thing that they can do,' said the Napoli striker. 'He can punish any
team in the world, but if you antagonise him you will give him more of a
reason to punish you.'

Team GB top Group A
following a bruising draw
with Senegal and a victory
over UAE. But Pearce
believes Uruguay remain
favourites to go through,
and Cavani agrees that the
South Americans are the
strongest team in the
group. 'We know we need
to beat Team GB,' he added.

'We are very confident in
our attacking ability and
from what we have seen
we can score goals against
them. We know we need to
improve, but we believe we
are the best team in the
group and we will be out to
show that. Luis has been
telling us about the players
because, of course, he has
experience playing against
a lot of them.'

If Britain get through, they
are likely to face either
Mexico or South Korea in
the quarters.

Swansea
winger Scott Sinclair said:
'The main thing is to get
through to the next round.
It would be nice to finish on
top but if we don't it's still
great news.'
