Cash-strapped Blackburn look to make a Modeste acquisition in the transfer window
Blackburn are showing interest in Bordeaux striker Anthony Modeste.
The cash-strapped club are sending scouts to watch Bordeaux play Valenciennes on Saturday to run the rule over a player once dubbed the 'new Thierry Henry'.
Watching brief: Bordeaux's Anthony Modeste
The 23-year-old was even watched
closely by Arsenal 18 months ago while he was at Nice after he scored
six goals in 15 appearances for France Under 21s.
However, he moved to Bordeaux for 3.5m and has scored 11 goals in 38 games.
Bordeaux are willing to discuss a
loan deal for Modeste and that suits Blackburn as they await player
sales to finance incomings.
A move for Andy Johnson remains in the balance because Fulham want 3m for the 30-year-old.
