The transfer of Bebe to Manchester United is still being investigated by Portuguese police, who have interviewed the player’s former agent.
Sportsmail revealed earlier this month that police in Lisbon had begun an enquiry into how Bebe, 20 at the time, came to join United from Guimaraes for 7.4million in 2010. Bebe left long-term representative Goncalo Reis to join super-agent Jorges Mendes just before his dream move.
Reis went to speak to police on Monday. He is not suspected of any wrong-doing and was not arrested. He was asked only to talk about his relationship with Bebe and the manner in which the United forward walked out on his agreement with him.
Probe: Police are looking into Bebe's transfer to Manchester United
It is believed officers in the Lisbon anti-corruption department want to establish how 3m of the transfer fee ended up with Mendes’s agency Gestifute, as revealed by directors of Guimaraes.
United are not the subject of the investigation and have previously stated that they paid the transfer fee up front to Guimaraes. United have not been contacted by Portuguese police while Gestifute declined to say if they have been approached by police.
Bebe has only played three times for United and is currently on loan at Turkish club Besiktas.
